Your first two screenshots do most of the work
In Play search results, users see your icon, your title and the first couple of screenshots — before they tap anything. A raw screen capture of your settings page wastes that slot. A framed screen with a one-line benefit caption does not.
Play’s actual constraints
- Between 2 and 8 phone screenshots.
- Each side between 320 px and 3840 px.
- The longest side at most twice the shortest — so no ultra-tall strips.
- PNG or JPEG, no alpha channel.
This tool exports 1080 × 1920, which satisfies all of the above and matches the most common phone aspect ratio.
Writing captions that convert
Write outcomes, not features. “See where your money went” beats “Analytics dashboard”. Keep each caption under about eight words so it stays readable at thumbnail size, and order the set as a story: the core value first, the differentiator second, the supporting features after.
Frequently asked questions
- What screenshot size does Google Play accept?
- Each side must be between 320 px and 3840 px, and the longest side can be at most twice the shortest. 1080 × 1920 is the safe default for phones, which is what this tool exports.
- How many screenshots do I need?
- A minimum of 2 and a maximum of 8 for phones. If you declare tablet support you also need 7-inch and 10-inch sets. Most listings should use at least 4.
- Do captions on screenshots help conversion?
- Yes. The first two screenshots appear in search results without a tap, and a short benefit caption tells users what they are looking at far faster than raw UI does.
- Is there a watermark?
- No. The exported PNGs are clean and free to use commercially.
